[Robotgroup] State of the union ... Maker Faire

Who is our contact at Maker Faire? Has anyone submitted a proposal
either online or in hardcopy? If not, maybe we, as The Robot
Group Inc, can hit them up for some bench space inside. I think
its important to have at least a presence at Maker, perhaps a
fraction of what we had last year. Maybe they don't have room for
us inside because they think we need as much space as last time.
I know I, for one, would rather not have to deal with the dust
and heat outside.
BTW, I'll be submitting a proposal for a sort-of art car called
Cargograss. Its a personal patch of St. Augustine grass growing
through a grid platform mounted just above my car. Its the same
length and width of the car and capable of supporting the weight
of people in lawn chairs while parked or heavy boxes when moving.
An automated hydroponic system is housed in the trunk. The micro
climate and shade provided will also keep my car nice and cool as
the air conditioner is on the fritz. Very practical and
environmentally responsible too, reducing my footprint and all...

> This point got lost in the discussion, but I have been in contact
with Beatrice, our contact person from First Night. When I spoke to
her more than a week ago, the packets were being made ready for the
weekend and judging by the different people on the panels.
Supposedly, they would make their decisions last weekend, and the
letters would be going out sometime the following week. (which was
just this past week). We were told we had to wait to find out via
either a letter of rejection, or by contact either by letter or
phone of acceptance or a negotiated acceptance. As of yesterday,
we have not gotten a yay or nay letter. Beatrice said that the
rejection letters would go out first. As soon as we know something,
we will need, only if accepted, to step into overdrive. We were
sort of waiting to hear from them to decide which direction to go
in for Maker Faire as well, but there is a hitch there as well.
I believe, someone step in and tell me I am wrong if so, that we
were !
> not being given an indoor area for our "projects" for Maker
Faire. Most people are discouraged with that as we will be
either freezing, sweating, become dust covered, etc, and none
of those scenarios are good for the delicate electronics in
some of our projects. If anyone has ideas, discussion will
be welcome, as we are running out of time.

what we are waiting for.
