Oh yeah, cables are possessed by the devil, clearly. Put 'em into a  
box, take 'em out three seconds later, and they are in knots!

My solution -- ziploc bags for _everything_. I've used zipties (too  
permanent), velcro (ever more annoying than cables for small wires;  
good for power cables and large bundles), various wrapping and tying  
methods, damn near EVERYTHING.  Ziploc bags win.

As for coiling, I know two (maybe three) ways to coil a cable so it  
unwinds correctly without twists... some methods are good for flexible  
cables and rope, others for stiff...
