Here we have convergent threads. The following line is from Charles
Wenzel's Weekly Thoughts Archive
(http://www.techlib.com/weeklythoughts.htm):
Power corrupts, or corrodes, in the case of electricity.

I can bring along my old can of Chemtronics Tuner Renu. It seems to be
basically a freon based degreaser. Techspray still makes several
varieties of Blue Shower and there are other products out there like
Deoxit but I bet the good stuff was Blue Shower 1657, as in "...modeled
after the popular Blue Shower 1657, Blue Shower II was developed for
general cleaning.." But nowadays they don't even trust us DIY types
with the wimpy modern stuff. "**In accordance with EPA regulations,
this product may only be purchased by dealers and distributors with a
valid FIEN, state resale certificate, or local business license."

Which points us toward another of Wenzel's one-liners:
Those who are willing sacrifice safety to secure liberty usually don't
have to.

So, the question is, does anyone have any ideas on how to restore the
switches to functionality on this vintage unit w/o damaging or
destroying it? :)
