The Electrical and Computer Engineering Department at UT is hosting the annual Edison Lecture Series on Wednesday, Thursday and Friday of this week:

The topic for this year's lecture is "Surveillance, TV, and Image
Processing." While the target audience for this lecture is high school and middle school students, the lectures in the past have included both introductory material as well as more advanced material. According to the web site, "Special Agent Shanna Daniels will give the FBI's perspective on surveillance." It should be an interesting talk. They usually have a question and answer period after the talk.
The lecture times are here:

The 10:00 am and 12:30 pm lectures are intended for students, but I have never seen them checking ids at the door. Parking is difficult during these times, but you get the added bonus of getting to visit a number of exhibits outside the lecture hall. If you come to the evening lecture (Thursday 7 pm), you will miss most of the exhibits (and the Basic Stamp class too).
Thanks,
Bob Comer
