[Robotgroup] Basic Stamp Success

I am pretty comfortable with simple BS2 programming. I wouldn't mind sticking around offering tips and unsolicited commentary, but the meeting ran kinda late last night....

I do have a BOE-Bot kit, but I will be using it for more insidious purposes: I plan on attaching the servos to a pan-and-tilt kit that I bought online for $10, and then making a robot head out of the rest of the BOE-Bot, using the serial connector to a PC running a DOTNET application. I also have a disassembled Little Tykes Hummer and two motor controllers -- I had to buy a second one because I trashed the first one due to my lack of soldering ability, which is why I thought the video last night was awesome but also sort of hilarious.

And now I also have a Rhoomba.
  :-D

PS -- I did have a ton of questions after the video, like suchas for example can a trashed motor controller be fixed? One of the holey things got solder oozed into it from soldering another part, and there is another place with all the wires sticking out, and a huge clump of solder attached to them all. Also, if the microprocessor gets really really really hot while you are soldering it to the board, is that bad?

The Robot Group is so nuturing, especially to a real novice when it comes to programming. (You have to know, it took a year and a trilogy novel to discover what the Dominion was in Deep Space Nine).....

Whitney (Rick's daughter) and I both successfully (with guidance from RG members) made the servos turn, and......hooray......did the Pizo speaker make noises. Thanks Eric, Paul, Marvin, Derek and others for their help and encouragement. It is simpler than it appears. Good work Whitney. I hope you can continue to come to the meetings.

Scott, do you have a Boe Bot, and do you want to learn this with us or do you already know how to use Basic Stamp?

Denise
