Today I discovered/realized that the mailing list archive has a .gz
version of each month going back to 2003.

The neat thing is that these are stored in mbox format.

What this means is that I will be able to get a local copy of all the
list going back to 2003 by just dropping the decompressed file into
my Thunderbird "Local Folders" directory.
(That is I dropped it into the the actual folder on the HDD
/home/u/.mozilla-thunderbird/burrrr.default/Mail/Local Folders/)

I did a quick test w/ a couple months and it seems to work great.

Pretty neat. My archive only went back to 2007.

Sorry if I never mentioned that, James. It seemed too obvious to
even mention to a geek like you.

Long ago, in a galaxy far, far away, I archived everything that I
could from the Yahoo! mailing list that we used before Evan Harris
offered to host us on puremagic.com.

I sure would like to locate that file because it took hours to
forward each and every email from the archive to one of my
accounts. I do not recall how far back that archive went back but it
was active before I joined the group in August 2001.
