Thanks for the parts suggestions all. I bought a Parallax Propeller chip a
week ago and am looking for some gear motors to experiment with.
AustinEOL or more accurately, The Austin End Of The Line Kite Team is a
performance Kite team. We fly 4 dual line sport kites in close formation and
intricate (to us at least) pattern choreographed to Music. We also Compete
is Kite team competitions at the regional and occasionally the national
level. The video on the web page links to UTube. If you seach for kite team
on UTube you should find several hits to give you an idea of what it looks
like. You can also go to the American Kitefliers Association AKA
http://www.aka.kite.org We flew two performances at the recent 78th annual
Austin Zilker Kite Festival.

@Michael,
Welcome! Can you tell us a little bit about Austineol? I looked at the web
site and saw pictures of kites, but didn't glean much else. Can't see the
video from here. Thanks!
@Robert,
ServoCity has 48 and 32 pitch, sadly not 24 pitch.
http://servocity.com/html/gear_racks.html
Vex has 12 pitch:

Lego Technics has some, don't recall the pitch, but 12 is close.
FWIW - I've found gear racks and matching gear molded into the bottom of
in-feed trays for printers and Xerox machines. The type where you can use
different paper widths and the tray has to center the paper.
