recommended way to get Linux gdc if no package

I don't understand why I can't just use the official installer 
script and have it work for gdc:

https://dlang.org/install.sh

It installs the latest dmd and ldc but only a 2013 version of gdc.

Are there any plans to have it install the latest gdc?
