Yes, Konquest is from the same sub-genre, and is free and open source.
Somehow it doesn't seem to matter. In my humble opinion, Mayhem
Intergalactic is significantly better than Konquest. It looks better,
sounds better, plays better, has networked multiplayer, and is simply
more fun. Granted I'm probably biased. Still, my sales-to-downloads
ratio is reasonably healthy for an indie game, so I must be doing
something right!
By the way, I'm working on a large update that vastly improves the
appearance of the game; it has much better graphics and completely
revamped audio, among other features and bug fixes and so on. The
current public version pales in significance.
The update should be out well in time for the Game Developers
Conference. Then there's the Mac version to work on... I'm keeping busy!
