Cannot install D in Eclipse on OSX

Hi,

I've tried to install D in both Eclipse Mars and Neon. Loading it 
directly from the Help/Marketplace gave me all the right prompts, 
but after I restarted eclipse, D was not installed and I couldn't 
find it in preferences nor when I tried to open a new project.

I got the same result when I used the Eclipse Help/install new 
programs option, downloaded the osx binary tarball from 
https://code.dlang.org/download. the file I downloaded was 
dub-0.9.25-osx-x86_64.tar.gz. I also tried downloading DMD from 
https://dlang.org/dmd-osx.html. This correctly installed a 
command line compiler, and gave correct results when I ran the 
hello.d program.

There must be a better way!

I'll be overwhelmed with sweat if somebody can either clarify how 
I can make the installation or hold my hand as I go through 
installation.
