Does the IntelliJ plugin support makefile built projects?

I was trying to setup an existing project to work with the 
IntelliJ plugin.
It's a makefile built project, not one built with Dub.
But I'm seeing configuration issues. For example, IntelliJ asks 
for an SDK setup. I haven't figured out how to set this up 
properly. I'm guessing the plugin would pull this from a Dub 
configuration if there was one in the project.
