Everyone, thanks for your comments.

What would you recommend to learn the current version of D 
language, for a professional developer familiar with IBM 1620 
machine language with punch cards, C, C++, Rust, PL/I, Fortran, 
C# and APL, among others.

The 'old book' pdf seems to be the most current approach, and it 
should only be about 3 years old.
