Thanks for that. The most relevant article which I am guessing 
Walter used as the basis of his cfloat and ifloat types is that 
by William Kahan and J.W. Thomas from 1991 which was titled 
"Augmenting a Programming Language with Complex Arithmetic". See

I would love to find what Walter posted when he implemented those 
types in D and any documentation from the usage of those types.
