How does D improve design practices over C++?

I didn't even do that in the punch card days! (Yes, I am that old.)

Back in the 70's when I'd go home on break from college, I'd write 
Fortran in a spiral notebook, then punch it in to try it out the next 
semester. I'm not sure there were any months gap, and it was purely 
because my family couldn't afford a $50,000 computer.

I still have that notebook.
