I think you are confusing iterators with ranges. Iterators are gone from 
Phobos.

auto pos = fullFilePath.length - find(retro(fullFilePath)).length - 1;
auto dirname = fullFilePath[0..pos];
auto filename = fullFilePath[pos+1..$];
