I don't know. I haven't gone looking. However, I know that there's lots of 
anecdotal evidence for it. There's probably experimental evidence as well, but I 
haven't gone looking for it.
Personally, I know that my eyes do much better when I have a dark background and 
light text on the screen. It's much harder on my eyes to have a white background 
with black text. None of those problems occur with paper.
