We do something even better, you can place bounties on specific 
issues that you're willing to pay for:

If the issue you're looking for isn't raised already, you can 
open one in bugzilla (https://issues.dlang.org/, where you can 
also vote on issues) and then place a bounty for it on 
bountysource.  As you can see from the above link, people are 
placing bounties and collecting them, though probably not 
anywhere near the pace possible.  That's probably at least partly 
because it's hard to find, with a link from the front page of the 
wiki but not the homepage.

Andrei is working on setting up a foundation for another way to 
channel funds towards D.
