Ideas for a "prototype" project? Germany provides funding

If you or someone else has time, he should definitely prepare an 
application! For a start we need to convince them that the 
proposed project has an immense effect as in it "will make the 
world a better place". So projects that will have a huge user 
base like e.g. Ilya's generic Blas qualify for this. Has anyone 
better ideas?
