I definitely agree with you that D is the better choice for us. 
And I haven't talked to a random sample of thousands of C++ 
programmers, so I may be wrong. But my impression is that the C++ 
programmers of today are the modern version of the early 
programmers that refused to touch FORTRAN because they weren't 
about to use a compiler. They won't give up on a language in 
which they are so heavily invested, one which most of the world 
avoids, to use a language designed to be used by humans. For 
those of us that just want to get work done, D is a great choice, 
but we moved on from or never even started with C++.
