Can vibed be fast as Go or Python?

I create a test at work, compared an existing Ruby implementation of an 
API end point to a Go implementation and a D implementation. The D 
implementation was five times faster. Unfortunately my colleagues paid 
more attention to the result that showed that the Ruby implementation 
was twice as fast as the Go implementation.
