I'm a bit torn about static vs enum. I partly agree with prior 
speakers about enum getting too many meanings, but on the other 
hand, it's not really a problem imo.

Would it otherwise be called static parameters? Otherwise const 
of course, but that's already a used attribute.

I think the rationale behind it is solid and would simplify 
things in the long run (less to think about = better).
