Yes, but you will recognize stb_image.h has that exact same 
semantic too. You can ask for 1/2/3/4 channel while loading. It 
is implicitely rgba8/rgb8/la8/l8, implicitely sRGB.
People care about value and that implicit conversion more than 
they do about colorspaces. So it's not a simple cut wrong vs true.
