This is not derogatory rhetoric. I think there may be a language 
barrier, or misunderstanding.

-phile is a "lover of". So e.g. audiophile is a lover of good 
sound. A bibliophile is one who loves to read books. Someone 
saying you care passionately about oop is not saying something 
derogatory, or incorrect if I understand your position.
