Given the problems listed it is a possible solution.

That doesn't mean it's better. But it is a common enough solution in PL 
design space that it is worth considering.

For stuff like this I want to evaluate ideas not just to get to the 
first good one that could work, but also to make sure it actually is the 
best candidate.
