Advice on Converting a Bulky VB6 Program to .NET: Tools vs. Professional Services?

I’m working on a project to convert a large legacy VB6
application to .NET, and I’m exploring the best approach to
tackle this. The program is quite complex, so I’m considering
either using a VB6 converter or reaching out to a company
specializing in migration services.

From my research, I found some automated converters, like
Telerik’s converter (https://converter.telerik.com/), as well as
a few companies that provide migration services, such as Abto
Software (https://www.abtosoftware.com/expertise/vb6-migration)
and VBMigration
(https://www.vbmigration.com/vb-migration-services/).

My question is: From your experience, is it more effective to use
converters for a complete rewrite, or does it make sense to
partner with a migration service for this? Has anyone here had
success with either approach for bulky applications?

Thanks in advance for any advice or shared experiences!
