Well, I personally stopped using choco long ago. Instead, I use 
[scoop](https://scoop.sh/), which has (git repo based) buckets 
with manifests, which have an `autoupdate` feature.
Once installed, you now and then run `scoop update *` and all 
your installed software is up2date...

To install `dmd`, just follow https://scoop.sh/#/apps?q=dmd :)
