IMMEDIATE RELEASE
GAMES, LEARNING, AND SOCIETY INAUGURAL CONFERENCE
The inaugural Games, Learning and Society Conference (GLS) will
provide an ideal opportunity for participants to help define the
direction of a burgeoning field. The GLS Conference will foster
substantive discussion and collaboration among academics, designers,
and educators interested in how videogames – commercial games and
others – can enhance learning, culture, and education. The GLS
Conference is sponsored by the University of Wisconsin-Madison
(http://www.education.wisc.edu/) and the Academic ADL Co-Lab
(http://www.academiccolab.org/), and will be held June 23 and 24, 2005
at the Monona Terrace in Madison, WI.
Speakers, discussion groups, interactive workshops, and exhibits will
focus on game design, game culture, and games’ potential for learning
and society more broadly.
The GLS Conference is the first of its kind and therefore a
unique and ideal opportunity for those interested in interactive media
and its intersection with society and education. Because there is a
growing interest among academics, software developers, school
districts, and granting agencies to learn more about interactive
technologies, simulations, and games, the GLS Conference organizers
created this two-day event to begin to explore how these parties might
work together. Space for enrollment is limited, so please register
soon at http://www.glsconference.org/.
The Games, Learning, and Society Conference is an exciting,
interdisciplinary meeting that will define the direction of a
burgeoning field. Registration is still open at
http://www.glsconference.org for the conference taking place June 23
and 24 at the Monona Terrace in Madison, WI.
