This is a terrible workaround. It looks OK with no vararg parameters, 
but lousy if you have any.

i.e.:

f(arg1, arg2, arg3, true, 'S')

becomes:

f!(typeof(arg1), typeof(arg2), typeof(arg3))(arg1, arg2, arg3, true, 'S');
