There is *already* a patch by Chad Joan:
http://d.puremagic.com/issues/show_bug.cgi?id=3536

It's not exactly the same proposed here, but if Walter gives green light
maybe he'll be happy to update it. Just give him some feedback in that
bug report when Walter is comfortable with the change.
